Established in 1896, the Carnegie International is the longest running North American exhibition of international art. Organized every four years by Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie International presents an overview of how art and artists respond to the critical questions of our time. The Carnegie International brings together new commissions, existing works, and projects by established and emerging artists working internationally, domestically, and locally. The exhibition transforms galleries and public spaces in the museum and occupies sites and engage publics in various Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

The Friends of the Carnegie International is a leadership group whose support is instrumental to the scope and scale of the Carnegie International. Composed of individuals from around the country and the world, the Friends have provided critical support to the International since 2004. From its start, the Friends have constituted an informed philanthropic core to the ambitions and achievements of the Carnegie International.

Carnegie Museum of Art invites you be a part of this important and historic exhibition series. The Friends of the Carnegie International are entitled to many benefits that provide stimulating opportunities for travel, uncommon social and educational events, and meaningful exchange with the curators and artists of the International. Individuals who support the 59th Carnegie International by becoming a Friend are invited to join the Opening Celebration on Friday, May 1, 2026. The pledge period for commitments to support the 59th Carnegie International extends to the close of the exhibition on January 3, 2027.
